Our initial CCW course consists mostly of classroom education where you will learn the legal aspects of carrying a concealed firearm, basic firearm safety and storage, types of handguns, ammunition, malfunctions, shooting position and grip, aiming and firing techniques, mental awareness and the defensive mindset, avoiding confrontations outside the home, responding to an attack outside the home, and dealing with the aftermath of defensive shooting.
At the conclusion of the classroom portion of the class, you will be given a written proficiency test comprised of 50 questions that are a mix of True/False and multiple choice questions based on the material taught in the classroom. You will need to score 70% correct to pass.
Many CCW courses discourage beginning shooters from taking their class, but all are welcomed here and we guarantee you will pass qualification or you receive a free 1 hour private lesson and re-qualification*.
During range qualification, you will shoot 30 rounds at a standard B27 silhouette target. A passing score is a minimum of 70%. Course fire outline is as follows:
6 rounds at 3 yards
12 rounds at 5 yards
12 rounds at 7 yards
*Re-qualification must occur within 14 days of classroom instruction per regulations.
